ONE Northside & ONE People’s Campaign
Project Overview:
ONE Northside and ONE People’s Campaign are canvassing voters in the 40th, 46th, 47th, and 48th Wards in support of Bring Chicago Home, which will be on the ballot for the Primary Election on Tuesday, March 19th. Bring Chicago Home would generate at least $100 million annually to fund permanent affordable housing and other supportive services for people experiencing homelessness.
Position Description:
ONE Northside and ONE People’s Campaign seek 10-12 individuals ready to talk to voters at their doors to build support for Bring Chicago Home in the 40th Ward (Budlong Woods/Arcadia Terrace), 46th Ward (Uptown/Lakeview), 47th Ward (Ravenswood/Lincoln Square), and 48th Ward (Edgewater/Uptown).
- 11 hours/week with additional hours available during March 16th-19th (see schedule below)
- Training provided but experience with canvassing preferred.
- Required to have access to a smartphone with a battery that can last 4 hours and a data plan. Canvassers will use the MiniVAN app. (Data subsidies available upon request.)
- You must have your own transportation to the canvassing site. All canvasses will be in your designated ward.
- Must be prepared to canvass in cold, snowy conditions. Hand warmers will be provided. If conditions are dangerous to be outside, phonebanking may be used.
- Shifts longer than 3 hours will include a paid break and a 15 min debrief at the end of each shift.
- Schedule:
- Weekly
- Tuesdays, 3-7pm (3-4pm training) → 4 hours
- Thursdays, 4-7pm → 3 hours
- Sundays, 1-5pm → 4 hours
- Weekend, day before, and day of Election
- Saturday, Mar 16, 10am-3pm → 5 hours
- Sunday, Mar 17, 1-6pm → 5 hours
- Monday, Mar 18, 4-7pm → 3 hours
- Tuesday, Mar 19, 5:30am-7:30pm → up to 14 hours

Contract starts on Tuesday, January 30th, and ends on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024.
Compensation for this position is $23/hour and will be conducted as an independent contractor. Payment will be on a semi-monthly schedule.
