This Saturday our Violence Prevention team will be out in Uptown doing their annual Turkey Giveaway for Thanksgiving! All families who may need a turkey are welcome to come. Turkeys are first come, first served, and please bring a cart or bag to carry your turkey home. Pick up spots: 3pm at Argyle and Winthrop; 4pm at Agatite and Sheridan; 5pm at Wilson and Broadway. Thanks to @communitiespartnering4peace and @metropolitanpeaceinitiatives for supporting our Light in the Night events.

Este sábado nuestro equipo de Prevención de la Violencia estará en el Uptown haciendo su donación anual de pavos para el Día de Acción de Gracias. Ready to get involved with ONE Northside and community organizing but not sure where to start? Come to our New Member Orientation! This one hour online meeting will help introduce you to community organizing and how building people power right here in our communities can bring about big changes. Last night members of our Environmental Justice team joined our partners in the Green Schools Coalition (@ctulocal1, @se_taskforce, @pcrchi) for a rally at CPS’ office downtown to call for action now on the Green Schools plan! Our schools have lead, mold, terrible heating and air conditioning, and they need to be updated! Over 50 teachers, parents, students, and community members joined us. EJ team member and Lane Tech junior Mateo Schroeder spoke at the rally and was interviewed by the news, and ONS community member and Sullivan student Tess Lacy joined the delegation to deliver our demands to CPS CEO Pedro Martinez. Kudos to these young leaders!

¡Anoche miembros de nuestro equipo de Justicia Ambiental se unieron a nuestros socios en la Coalición de Escuelas Verdes (@ctulocal1, @se_taskforce, @pcrchi) para una manifestación en la oficina de CPS en el centro de la ciudad para pedir acción ahora en el plan de Escuelas Verdes! Nuestras escuelas tienen plomo, moho, terrible calefacción y aire acondicionado, ¡y necesitan ser actualizadas! Más de 50 maestros, padres, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad se unieron a nosotros. Join us Monday, November 11 to talk through this election and think ahead. With the election of Donald Trump, we know that there will be serious consequences in all our lives. We have our work cut out for us, but what keeps us strong and safe is our relationships, and we will keep building and organizing to prepare ourselves and our neighbors from what’s to come.

Join us for a community meeting where we will take space to connect with each other, reflect on the meaning of this election, and talk through what will come next and how we can be prepared. We are stronger together.

Dinner will be served at 6pm. Childcare and Spanish translation will be available.
